Teaching Philosophy
Confidence, fun, loving, imagination, creativity, trust, honesty, and building relationships are all very important beliefs and values to me. I find they make up a great teacher, each for different reasons. We will start with confidence, I feel that when a teacher is confident in the classroom they can execute their lessons with great success. This success comes from the confidence due to the fact that the children see the teacher as an authority figure and listen to them. An authority figure is someone the students can look up to, listen to, and approach easily.
Having a fun and loving environment is key to having a great classroom. A student cannot learn if they are not enjoying what they are doing, if a student is bored in the classroom they are most likely not going to want to learn or even listen to the lesson. Therefore having exciting and inspiring lessons and fun and exciting decorations in the classroom will lead to a more fun and successful leaning experience. Having a loving environment in the classroom is just as important as having a fun environment. A loving environment where every child is treated fairly and with respect will show the children that I actually care about them, and that I want them to succeed. This will lead them to better success in their learning career.
Creativity is very important to have as a teacher; being creative makes the classroom and the lessons more interesting. Striving to make each lesson interesting is very hard if a teacher does not use creativity, but with creativity each lesson can be different and exciting. Being creative allows for the opportunity of each different learning style to be incorporated into almost every lesson.
Trust and honesty are two of my most important values to have in the classroom. Without trust and honesty hardly any learning can go on in the classroom. If a student doesn't trust their teacher they will not trust what they are teaching and will not want to listen to the lesson. The same goes for honesty, both the student and the teacher must be honest with one another. The development of trust and honesty between student and teacher in the classroom will lead to a better relationship and better communication between them.
Building strong relationships is very important. If a student feels they can relate to a teacher and that their teacher is very approachable, they are more likely to seek help when needed and form a strong relationship with their teacher. Strong relationships lead to good communication which is a key aspect of the learning environment; good communication makes learning for the student much easier.
